I've not been on this site before and am new to the web . But your display is beautifully done and draws attention to its self. I hope to spend alot of time here learning and sometimes giving my own famlies occuran ces. My family find the belief in the paranormal quite normal. I'll write more when I learn more.

Hi to anyone and everyone- I am hoping to one day become The World's Greatest Webpage Designer. (After Obiwan, of COURSE!) However, at the moment, my talent is yet untapped. I am looking for things that interest ME (after all, isn't that was the internet is about?), and am looking to accept donations in the forms of stories and links to other cool places. In particular, I would love stories about ghosts, and other various things that go bump in the night, that are from Minnesota (my lovely home). ALSO, I am interested in COINCIDENCES, also known as syncronicity. things that are just TOO weird to be chance, that may have led to amazing outcomes or just creeped you out. If anyone has any stories that would be of use to me, please email me, and I will (eventually) write back, i PROMISE! Thanks, and sorry for using you for free advertising, Obiwan!

Not criticism, just what I've always heard about the La Llorona legend and a couple of comments: The way *I* heard it, La Llorona is the ghost of Cortez's translator and mistre ss, who bore him a son. Her Nahuatl name was Malinali, Christianized to Marina, and she was called La M alinche. The story about her became that she killed her children to retain Cortez's love or someth ing like that, and she is condemned to wander the earth weeping. "La Llorona" means "the weeper". This isn't true of course. Marina married another Spaniard after Cortez was do ne with her. Perhaps she is seen as haivng "killed her children" and cursed because of her complicit y with the Spanish. I don't think she had much of a choice; she had been a slave of the Mayans before she was presented to Cortez as a gift. Her options wouldn't have been all that wonderful. Has anyone yet commented that the story of "La Llorona" is VERY close to that o f Medea, who killed the children she had borne to Jason? Also, there was a woman in the United States who drowned her children in a lake a few years back to attract a man she thought was rejecting her because she had children. In Onta rio, Canada, a man did the same very recently to keep a girlfriend. This girlfriend was very brave, a nd because there was suspicion of murder on this man, continued to date him while wearing a police w ire until the man confessed. It will be interesting to see if La Llorona-type legends spring up around these people.

Hi all! Just found this page 2 weeks ago (current date: 8/20/99). I love all the stori es and hope to share a couple of my own plus one or two stories that have been told to me by very close friends soon. I've already shared this website with m y best friend who will be ghost hunting with me soon at St. Johns University in Collegeville Minnesota (anyone know what I'm talkining about? Please share if you do). The only real comment/question I have is concerning the story entitl ed "Baby Monitor" dated Sunday, October 18, 1998. According to the story, a gr andfather had died and people heard him after his death comforting an upset bab y. The story says that the grandfather "said in Chinese too just like my frien ds grandfather used to speak it with a slight accent...." Sorry, but how does an old Chinese man speak Chinese with a "slight" Chinese ac cent? Maybe I misunderstood the author's intent. Keep up the great work, Missy

Ok, I'm a antive of Middle Tennessee, and I just saw Th e Blair Witch Project, and it got me thinking about some of hte folklore around here, there are 3 that i know of. One is the Bell Witch, which seems to be pr etty popular, I've been able to find some good info on her. The next is the "M onkey Woman" Who is supposedly in Smyrna, TN, which is where i am, and is 15 mi nutes from Nashville. Last is the old conductor/engineer that supposedly ran o ver a baby in his train once, and now for like 70 years he has walked up and do wn the tracks with an aold lantern in his hand looking for the child. Well, If anyone knows anything, PLEASE! e-mail me at BalloonMkr@aol.com! Thanks!
