A few years ago, I was on vacation with my parents in San Diego, and we went to the Hotel del Coronado. First we walked around a bit, and then we went downstairs into the History Basement. It's kind of shaped in a "L," so when you first enter there is a sharp turn on the right. My parents were at the front part, while I decided to go on and turn the corner. As I stood there, alone, a door about 15 feet in front of me opened about 4 inches. As is kept opening, a woman's figure walked down the stairs that were to the right to the door, stopped as she reached the bottom, turned to look at me, and when she did, the door opened all the way, then slammed with such force, a gust of wind blew at me. My automatic response was to scream bloody murder. As soon as I did the woman walked back up the stairs and dissapeared. Also in the basement was a hair salon, and when I screamed, the woman working in there immediately locked her door and turned off the lights. My parents came around the corner to see what happened. I began to cry, and then we just left. I was too stunned to say anything. When I walked out of the basement, the a hotel worker asked my parents if I saw "a woman" down there. My dad asked the man what he meant, but I replied, "yes!" The worker said there are always sightings down there. So we left, and came back the next day. My dad talked to the manager of the hotel, and I told him what I saw. He told me that the stairs that were there had no purpose because the opening to the top was to the beach - directly to the sand. But it had to be closed permanently because people would enter through there - kids and others. So he told me that I definetly saw the ghost of Kate Morgan, the woman who had been murdered there.
