In the fall of 1980, I was working a job where I worked three different shifts throughout the week: Sun/Mon 4pm-12am, Thu/Fri 12am-8am and Sat 8am-4pm. This particular night was Thursday. It was around ten pm and I was getting ready for work, having just stepped out of the bathtub. The night wasn't cool yet so I had the bathroom window open. I was living in the country six miles from the nearest town, and the nearest neighbor was about a quarter mile away. My mother was at the back of the house, watching the nightly news, waiting to send me off to work. She was about four rooms back along the house, and all outside doors from the family room were shut. As I was just finishing toweling off, I heard the distinct sound of horses' hooves on gravel *our driveway was gravel*, and since our outside light was on, I leaned into the window and looked out. There was no horse, no cow, no hooved animal of any type. Quickly putting some clothes on, I came out of the bathroom and m! ! et my mother coming through the dining room enroute to the front door. She said she'd heard something outside and wanted to see what it was. I asked her what she'd heard and she said it sounded like a horse coming into the driveway. I walked out onto the porch, then out into the drive and found nothing there, and no evidence of any horse in the dirt. My mother had lived in that house for fifty years, and the rest of my family lived there for nearly thirty. There were other things that happened there, but none like this. This was the only time that I've ever heard anything like that at this location.

story This is another apartment story. My boyfriend( now my husband) moved into an old apartment, circa 1908, just outside of Chicago in 1993. Before I go any further, let me state that my husband and I never believed in anything that we could not touch, taste, smell, well you get the picture. Anyway, so about 2 weeks after we move in, the doorbell started ringing, all hours of the day and night. The weird thing is that our apartment directly overlooked the front door and there would never be anyone there. After about a month of this, the microwave started. It would beep, incessantly, the number 7. This would also happen at all times of the day and night. It got so bad one day, that I actually yelled at it. It then beeped for an hour straight. I had to unplug it. This also went on for about a month.

At this point, my husband and I were starting to get a little freaked, still not able to admit that this was anything paranormal, we took apart the bell and the microwave. At this juncture, the telephone would act up. It would ring and there would be no one there. We had caller ID and nothing would register. Simultaneously, we would be hearing keys jingling outside out door, like one of was home. This only happened when one of was alone. There were also incidents with the shades of the apartment. I would put them up and we would get home and they were down.

In July of 1997, we got engaged. Everything suddenly stopped. We never had anymore strange incidents again! My husband and I are both physicians and tend to be very logical people, but we could not explain anything that happened to us.Hope you find this interesting, every word of it is true!!

story This is a story of a local legend on campus around here. I personaly have not seen this, but have talked to SCORES of people who swear of it.

I attend Valley Forge Military Academy and College, an old classic military school in Wayne, PA. This place is obviously very stressfull, more so for the younger kids than for the college students. Children in grade 7 are admitted here, and to put a child of that age in this kind of enviroment is just cruel. It can be too much for some of them are there have been numourous suicuide attempts on campus.

Well apartently, two young kids in the same company killed themselves on the same night. We don't know if this was a planned thing or what. There are plenty of stories of that barracks being haunted those are probably not true.

When someone screws up here, they are given "tours". A tour is one hour of marching on the main area, in large rectangles. Major offensives are given punishment of 100's of tours and are perfomed in full dress uniform, very uncomfortalbe to say the least.

Well aparently, these two kids who killed themselves can be seen marching tours around midnight or other times late a night, in full dress, and one of them calling cadance. Plently of people have said they have seen these ghosts, and even more people have heard, including myself have heard the cadets out on main area at night calling cadence. For those of you that don't know, calling cadence is the tradional army "left right left right" to stay in step.

To be honsent, I hope I never see the ghosts, that crap scares the hell out of me enough when I hear the cadances! I get really creeped out sometimes if I go running early in the morning alone in the dark around main area. I can't describe it, I just all of a sudden feel very afraid.

If have any details about this story (any VFMAC almuni out there) please let me know.

I had just walked over to my neighbor's house to go to a small party she was holding for the neighborhood. It was 8:13 when i arrived. 10 minutes later, We watched a huge dump truck drive into the woods behind her house. We didn't think anything was going on back there, so we checked it out. We walked into the woods, expecting to see a house being built, but there was nothing there, not even the truck! We walked back to her house, still wondering what was going on. Less than 15 minutes later, we heard a scream and an explosion. Everyone ran outside to see what had happened. We ran back to where we were before, where we had seen the explosion. There was absolutly nothing there!! Nothing even remotly close to there!! That same thing has been happening every year now on the same date. This has been going on for the past 4 years. We also seem to have a ghost train near the same spot. the train comes 3 times a month on the 5th, 18th, and 20th. At midnight.

story Shortly after my husband Gary and I were married, we bought used furniture to be refinished in the basement of my his aunt Anne's house, which we were told that there was a ghost in her house. After we arrived at his aunt's house in the middle of the afternoon no one was home, his aunt and uncle were both at work so we started to unload the furniture from the car to bring downstairs to be stored until we were able to come back on the weekend to start refinishing.

While Gary was outside unloading, I had started bringing the smaller pieces downstairs, while I was in the basement I heard someone walking on the wooden floors above me (aunt Anne had a long hallway to the bedrooms which was right above me!) I called out to Gary thinking it was him walking around upstairs and recieved no reply, but kept hearing footsteps over head. I called out again - nothing. I left what I was doing and went to find Gary who was still outside unloading the car and asked him if he was in the house at all, he said he was outside the whole time I was downstairs. When I told him what I had heard, we locked up the house and left.

A few days later, aunt Anne invited us to dinner. The evening was spent talking and joking while we enjoyed each others company. After dinner we went into the livingroom to have our coffee and continue our conversation about their "silent border", who for years would hide coffee mugs and other things around the house, when the basement door opened and closed all by itself! We all sat in silence, our conversation instantly cut off and just watched the door open and close.

It was a while before we returned to aunt Anne's, the last we heard she invited a priest to come and perform an exorcism, and the "silent border" was never heard from again.

story Hi, i've really enjoyed looking through all of the stories, it's nice to know that I'm not crazy! Well here it goes.

I don't really have a history of seeing things or anything, but as far back as I can rememberI always had really bad nightmares. Some were so scary that I woke up crying. They were so real, when I woke up I couldn't tell if i was dreaming or not. And another weird thing is that i can feel pain in my dreams. Weird huh?

Well here is my story,

Every night I would go to bed and I would feel a presence of a man (and I still do), so I'd look at my closet and I'd get the feeling that I was supposed to run for my life but at the same time I felt so safe and couldn't bring myself to run. I'd just lay there looking at the shadowy figure staring back at me, and I'd fall asleep looking at him, wandering who he was and what he was doing in my room.

I told my dad and he wanted to know what the man looked like. I told him he was about 6'3 and had broad shoulders. He said that his grandfather fit the description, my dad said that my great grandpa dies when he was in his eighties. It was his birthday, and every year on his birthday he would get his hair cut, so he decided that he wanted to get his hair cut, my grandpa took him into town and dropped him off at the barber shop and left to run some errands, my great grandpa was in good health and still active, he was in his early to min eighties. So, he was waiting for his haircut, sitting on the bench, and he died, just sitting on the couch waiting to get his hair cut, I think he had a stroke or something.

I think that the man i see every night is my great grandpa, but I'm not sure.

If anyone can help me find out who he is, feel free to e-mail me at kiwi_39@hotmail.com. Thanx for taking time to read my story.

story My entire life, I have always been sensitive to supernatural happenings. What happened to me just confirms that!

About 2 years ago around June or July, a former friend and I were walking in the woods that are by my house. There are rumors in our small town that there is the ghost of a mentally ill man in these woods, but as far as I know, that's only a rumor. We were just kind of goofing around as we were walking through, and the last thing we were thinking about were ghosts. Even when I got a bad feeling, I didn't think much of it. But the deeper into the woods we got, the worse the feeling got. It got strange when my friend said, "We should get out of the woods. I have the worst feeling". This was weird because this was my same feeling! Yet it was only about 1:30pm, and I was in no hurry to get back, so I said, "lets go a little farther".

For some reason, my friend and I just stopped walking at the same time. All of the sudden, we heard some leaves crunch like someone was stepping on them. My friend and I looked at each other. We heard this sound again. When we looked up, there was this white shape in front of us. It appeared for about 3 or 4 seconds, and then vanished. We ran out of the woods screaming. When we got to my house, we told my brother and his friend what happened, but they didn't believe us and thought we were making it up.

I am not afraid of what happened and go to these woods often, but I have never seen anything weird since. I swear this story is true.

I know that most ghost stories are not first hand experiences. People have a tendancy to always know someone who saw something but very few people have actually had a strange experience. This is the case with me. I do, however, know for a fact that this is not a fictional story so I will still send it to you tonight. Several years ago my aunt was asleep one evening when she was woke up by a terrible rage of growling, barking and screeching coming from in front of her house. When she looked outside she literally witnessed three dogs tearing her cat of fifteen years to shreds. By the time she could get outside to her cat the dogs had already torn the poor animal limb from limb. My aunt loved this cat very much and went into a deep mourning for the loss of her cat. Her husband buried the cat outside of her bedrrom window and they eventually trudged on after several very sad days. I can remember my mother several times having to go over to my aunts house and comfort ! ! her during that difficult week. On the seventh day my aunt came home and her cat was standing in front of her house. In absolute fear she approached it and inspected the animal. It was definitely her cat and it folled her inside, and and went to sleep. The logical conclusion to this story is that the cat out front was not my aunts cat. Of course, my aunts cat had never disappeared before or since for any period of time, and it was gone for seven days from the night. This may not sound like a scary story to you but my entire family had the creeps for a long time because of it.

(p.s. My aunt decided not to dig up the other cat for fear that it might not be there!)

story When I 14 years old, I had a few friends over for a slumber party. As was typical for teenage girls we decided to have a seance. We gathered around a candle in the basement of our house and tried to conjure up "spirits". Well we really had no luck and my mom had just gotten dinner for us. We decided to put out the flame of the candle for safety's sake since my parents basement wasn't completely finished yet. We were having our seance in the bathroom since it was the most finished of the rooms. I put out the candle myself by licking my fingers and dousing the flame. We all saw the soke rise and made sure it was out. After all my mom would never let me have another slumber party if I burned the house down.

After dinner we all went back downstairs to talk. My friend that started the seance and I walked into the bathroom because we noticed that the light was on. We were all in kind of a spooky mood and that basement was sort of scary with all of the shadows. Well the light wasn't on but that candle was burning. The flame was about 10 inches long and floating above the wick by three inces or so. I was scared silly since I knew that I had put out that flame. My friend threw the candle into the sink and turned on the water. I don't remember getting much sllep that night but I do remember we never tried having a seance again.

story I had a calico cat named Nicely for 18yrs. We had to put her to sleep (old age), in the summer of 1986.

I was heartbroken, I cried myself to sllep for weeks! I even slept with the towel that I had bruoght her to the hospital in. Well my mother thought I should grive before getting another cat... I didn't want to replace Nicely I just didn't want to feel the "missing" (if you know what I mean.).

Well, being so misirable my mother had given into getting another cat. We went to the ASPCA, and found a all white kitten with blue eyes. She had a lot of spunk! I was perposely wanting one that looked nothing like Nicely. All was well... Untill 3 weeks the cat was gone?! We couldn't find her anywhere (I mean we looked everywhere!!!) We made flyers and put them up in the building and the street. No sign or word of her. I was devastated!

After some time, we went back to the ASPCA and I found and all black kitten, she was cute and liked to lick me. Make a long story short, same thing happened 3 weeks later! (My mom to this day will not believe it happened this way). Well you can image how freeked out I was, not only did I lose my Nicely now I can't seem to hang on to any cat!

Still heartbroken I thought I would try one more time. This time I had to use another name at the ASPCA because they were wonder what I was doing.

I found the most adorible kitten! She was black with white feet and a little white in her face. She sat just like nicely did and seemed to a little act like her too. I felt a bond with the other 2 but this was different. I was not going to lose this one! 3 weeks later on a Sunday, I followed this cat everywhere! I wouldn't let her out of my sight for a second! I wouldn't even run out to the store for cigarettes, for fear that would be the moment she would dissapear!! I am proud to say she is a happy, healthy cat! Except for color they are twins. But if you if ask me they are too much alike - I think she is Nicely!
