Contributing Stories and Articles to the Web Page

Rules for submitting stories:

1. Stories must be true to the best of your knowledge.
2. Stories must not have been published for profit.
3. Stories written in ALL CAPS will be automatically rejected!

Rules for submitting articles:

1. Articles must not be plagiarized from another source (e.g. another website, a book, a newspaper, etc). If you write an article for the site it must be in your own words.
2. Articles written in ALL CAPS or html will be automatically rejected. If you send me your article as a Word file, please include your contact information within the file. Plain text is always best, however.

Suggested guidelines:

1. Length is not important. However, details are. Stories which include details about the nature of the sighting, place, time of day, etc, are more likely to be selected than those that don't. For example, a story that states "I saw a ghost one day walking down the road, and it was really scary so I ran away, the end" is not likely to be selected. (Yes, I do receive stories like that.)
2. Another thing that is really helpful is proper punctuation -- it makes it a lot easier to read a story if there are periods and commas!
3. Send your story or article to me at obiwan@ghosts.org. Please do not send your submission as a Word file or other type of attachment without asking me first. I don't open attachments unless I already know what they are, so anything you send "cold" will go down the bit bucket without even being viewed. 4. If you have submitted your story to another website, please let me know.
5. Your name and address can be removed from your submission if you wish to remain anonymous.

Please be patient if you submit a story; it may take a hideously long time for it to be included on the website. I apologize for the delays. If you submitted something and are wondering what happened to it, email me and I will give you a status report.

Please note:

1. Not all submitted stories make it to the web page.
2. As of February 2003, I have three years of backlogged submissions to work through. Life and other distractions have gotten in the way of my paranormal page lately, but I don't plan to delete anything here, so if your story's good it will (eventually) make it onto the site.
3. I email authors of articles when their submissions are put up. I do not, however, email story contributors.
4. I've taken down the Story Submission form since it didn't work properly and it seemed to encourage stupidity to land in my already-swamped inbox. You can still submit all the stories you like, but you must now email them to obiwan@ghosts.org.
