story This story actually belongs to an old friend of mine named Steve. Now Steve is not the kind of person who likes others to think he believes in ghosts, so I'm fairly sure that there are only a few people he has shared this story with.

When Steve was younger (around eleven), his parents bought an old house in the middle of a small town and moved the family in during October of that year. Come the middle of November, they were pretty well settled into their new home and decided to have relatives come for Thanks Giving dinner. Thanks Giving came and the family was together in the house, enjoying the holiday. Steve's mother was prepairing the meal, They guys were watching football, and the kids were playing upstairs. Suddenly Steve's mother could be heard cursing from the kitchen. Several family members went to the kitchen to see what was the matter. Steve's mom was angry and wanted to know who had come into "her" kitchen and put cranberries in the stuffing. Although the stuffing clearly contained cranberries, no one would admidt to putting them there.

A year or so went by and things begin to happen. Little things, the smell of flowers would permiate the house in the winter when no flowers were blooming. Items that were placed in one location would end up in another location. Nother scary, just strange. Steve's parants started talking with neighbors regarding the house's history. Mr. Isaacson, who lived next door, told them a story of when he first moved his family into their house many years ago. There was an elderly lady living in the house that Steve's family now occupied. Mr. Isaacson said that she was a very kind, sweet old lady. She invited my children over for Thanks Giving dinner the first year lived there, Mr. Isaacson said. The children were thrilled to go visit the old woman, and when they returned home they told their parants how good of a cook she was. Everything was wonderful, they said. But, one thing was wierd, she put cranberries in her stuffing.

Now, Steve said that no one has ever confessed to putting the cranberies in the stuffing on their first Thanks Giving in that house, but they like to believe it was someone other than the attending family. Throu-out Steve's years growing up in the house, he said that many times, immediately after he had gotten into bed, he would "feel" someone come into his room, tuck him in, and leave. Maybe it was the same sweet old lady who liked cranberries in her stuffing.
