Had a mother-in-law that seemed to have bad luck whereever she went. She seemed to be haunted herself. I became pretty close to her in our respect for the paranormal. Normally she did not talk about such things, her generation certainly did not look favorably on so called "ghost" stories, so she kept most of what I will relate to you til I came into the picture and she found a friend who was younger and more open. SHe passed over six years ago...... Before she passed on though she told me of some rather strange experiences she had had throughout her life and further told me that she really was wondering if her personal bad luck and these occurrences had had some correllation.
SHe used to live in San Gabriel, California on a little street called Palm in a very old farmhouse. It was here that most of the strange occurrences started to happen. She lived there with her first son and her husband who was usually working nights as well as days starting a business. She said it had two bedrooms and a long hall with the kitchen at the end toward the back, if I remember correctly. The kitchen was large with a pantry....it was this pantry which was dark and hollow which gave her the heebee jeebees everytime she passed it. In fact the sink was directly across from it, many times when she was doing dishes, she would get the distinct feeling that she was being watched.
At night she said she would also have trouble falling asleep and wondered how her son was doing in the bedroom next door because it was the closest room to the kitchen. One night when she was particularly thirsty she woke to find the water she had brought to her bedside was gone. Thinking her husband had drunk it and returned it to the kitchen she turned out the light and checked on her son, suddenly she remembered that her husband would not be back til around midnight an hour a way. She looked in on her son and was horrified to find that it was sitting on the edge of his dresser. She had been sure she had taken it to her room, but then she had been very tired....could she have left it there? She just could not believe that she had left it there. She had put him to bed at seven and had gone to bed at nine with the glass of water. She had not checked on him that night.
The next night was stranger. She awoke, or thought she had to find her husband out of bed. SHe called out to him and found him sitting in the kitchen staring at the pantry. SHe saw nothing and pulled him to bed. She checked on her son and quickly fell asleep. But her dreams were horrific, dreams of her husband talking to her and standing on a ladder with his head in the attic which was in the hallway right before the kitchen. Suddenly she was in the attic with him and his head was removed and rolling away screaming, she woke up...
The last straw she said was a week later in the kitchen again. She was doing dishes again and her son was playing on the floor beside her when she realized he was quieter than usual, she looked down to see him staring at the pantry frozen. Terrified, she slowly looked back using her periferal vision first. To her horror she saw what seemed to be a face peering from behind the pantry door, a small grayish/green face of a young boy. His mouth was red and had a disturbing grin... She said she wasted no time, she scooped up her son and without looking back, she bolted out of the door.
Later her things were recovered by her husband and one of her bravest sisters... She said they never talked about it after that. And strangely enough none of the pantry items were recovered. Years later some story about a ouja board experience came to my ears about an attempt to contact that spirit...but that is a story for another time............Oceanic
