My server is in the middle of a merger and a move abd our news server is down so I can't access the newsgroup. But I wanted to share this you.
When my daughter was born four years ago I was living in a house in which an elderly woman had lived just prior to us. She lived alone with nothing but a cat for a companion. One day she had a massive heart attack in the kitchen and died on the kitchen floor. It was four days before she was found by a police officer who broke into her house in response to a call from a neighbor who hadn't seen her for several days. Her cat was lying curled up next to her. We had several clues that she was still present in the house. For instance when the kitchen light was off our cocker spaniel puppy would stand at the kitchen doorway with his hackles up and bark like crazy, but we never saw her until the day I brought my baby home for the first time. I had a c-section and was having a hard time getting in and out of bed. At about 2 a.m. on her first night home I woke up to her crying (her crib was in my room at the foot of my bed) and needing to be fed. I rolled over to struggle out of bed and saw a human figure by the doorway to my bedroom just inside the room. There was a little bit of light coming in from a street light outside and, at first, I thought it was my oldest daughter checking on the baby. But I thought it was peculiar because she was wearing a big floppy hat, like a fishing or gardening hat. I called out her name and she didn't answer. I called out again and this time my daughter came into the room. When she flipped on the light the figure disappeared. The next night, I again woke up in the middle of the night to my baby wanting to nurse. I noticed the figure again but this time it was sitting kind of squatted down by the door (trying not to be noticed, maybe?) I panicked and yelled for my daughter. Again when she flipped on the light the figure disappeared. Talking to the neighbor across the street a few days later I found out that this lady was an avid gardener (I could tell that from all of the flowers in our yard) and always wore a big floppy gardening hat. She also loved children and especially adored babies. I think she was excited that there was a newborn in her house and just wanted to help me watch over her a little bit. This is an honest to god true story and it's not the only time I've seen a ghost. Let me know if you want to hear another one.
