Hi Guys!

I have been reading this NG for a couple of months now and I love it. I have been saving up this story for when I had time to sit down and write it (don't you just hate when people say I have a great story, I will tell you about it later!).

Anyway, this story is true and happened very recently.

It involves my Grandfather who died two years ago. He didn't have a great relationship with his sons but he was a wonderful grandfather. Shortly after he died, he began waking my Dad up at night by calling his name. This continued for a few months and then he started grabbing his leg while he was asleep. I should add that my Dad was a complete skeptic until this started happening.

My Dad had a clock which had belonged to my Grandfather and it would stop and start whenever there was anything major happening in the family. These things were pretty subtle at first, subtle enough for us to pass them off as imagination.

I hit a pretty rough period and while I was at my lowest, strange things started happening. Firstly, after an argument with my husband, I was very wound up and I walked into the loungeroom which was pitch black because we had shut up for the night and the television came on. There was no-one in the room, the children were asleep and my husband was in the shower. The very next day my husband received a phone call asking him to begin work down south (we were in the North West) near where my Dad lived and in the very same town my Grandfather had lived. We were very unhappy living where we were so this seemed like a miracle to us.

Because of the nature of the work there was very little accommodation, we were at our wits end, we had to live somewhere. Shortly after the phone call I was sitting at my computer one night when I felt a cold breeze on my neck. I was feeling really tense and this breeze relaxed me, the air conditioner was off and the house was locked up tight, the next day we spoke to the real estate lady about accommodation and she had found us a house, it was the VERY same house my grandfather had lived in 40 years ago!!!

We moved down and things kept happening, somebody grabbed me while I was having a shower one day, the clock kept stopping and starting, the lamps in my Dad's house would turn off and on and my Dad's girlfriend saw large shadows walking down their hallway and I would often see shadows out of the corner of my eye. I should add that the clock always seemed to stop when there was something happening at our house and start again when it was happening at my Dad's house.

One night I went to sleep a little upset, I hadn't heard from my Dad in ages, even though we lived close and I was feeling very neglected. I dreamt there was someone in my room (a man) leaning over me. When I tried to wake my husband, he wouldn't stir and this man was breathing in my ear. I woke up terrified and the breathing continued for a couple of seconds after I awoke. There was no-one in the room except my sleeping husband. The next day, my Dad called!

Since then things have stopped happening, the shadows have gone and sadly, I feel Grandad has gone too! It was a nice feeling being looked after like that but I hope he has found peace at last. I would still like to know why he stuck around, was it because he knew we needed him?

I have heard that people often stick around for a little while after they die, just to make sure the people they loved are okay and after a while they just fade away.
