Subject: "Love Shack" Ghost
This story was submitted to another site, approximately one year ago.
My family (myself, two sons, and a live-in boyfriend) moved into a little shack on the edge of 155 acres approximately two years ago. The shack was moved onto this land in the 60's - it had previously been one of several hotel "cabins" in a nearby town, but had been purchased, moved, and built onto a couple of times since that time. The original building is what is now the livingroom and kitchen areas of the house.
Several times during the first year we were in the shack, the tv was "left on" by my kids and even my boyfriend - I would wake up during the night and discover that no one had turned it off. I lectured all of them about "being more responsible", but it just never seemed to soak in - I would inevitably wake up to hear the tv on in the middle of the night. Then one night when "I" was the last one to bed, I woke up to find the tv on in the living room!!! I questioned everyone the next morning, thinking perhaps someone had not been able to sleep and had watched a little tv before going back to bed, but it seemed I had, indeed, been the last person awake that night.
My boyfriend is a paramedic and also works in a nearby emergency room, so he often gets off work in the middle of the night & watches tv before going to bed. He would often tell me that he thought he heard me walk through the kitchen, could "feel" me looking at him, then he would hear me turn and walk back toward the bedroom. Needless to say, this was NOT me!
All of us had on several occasions heard someone walk across the livingroom and sit on the couch. There was never an imprint on the couch, but you could hear the spring squeak. We always attributed the sounds to "old house" or "old couch".
Last Halloween night, my boyfriend and I took my two kids, along with their best friend (five of us) trick-or-treating. When we returned home, we all got out of the car and turned toward the house. (Remember that we live on 155 acres). As soon as the last car door closed, we all froze dead in our tracks and looked at one another. There was music blasting from the house. Not a stereo or a band, but what sounded like old carnival music. Very upbeat, but haunting. I whispered to my boyfriend & the kids, "Where is that coming from?" Knowing full-well that it was coming from my electric keyboard in the livingroom of the house. We all proceeded up the sidewalk, and as soon as we got about 10 feet from the front door, the music suddenly stopped. I made my boyfriend go into the house, first (as any sane female would do!) and we all started turning on lights, checking doors, windows, etc. Everything was locked up tight. I then checked my keyboard. As was the rule, it was unplugged since no one was sitting down playing it!
The next day, I had the kids listen (outside, from where we parked in the driveway) to make sure it was really my keyboard we had heard. Initially, they could barely hear it - so I turned the volume up as loud as it would go. The only way they said it was as loud as we had heard it on Halloween night was when I had the volume up full-throttle and POUNDED on it.
Shortly after Halloween, I did some painting and basic remodelling on the house. Apparently this upset the "ghost", because we haven't seen him for most of the last year, but we will always remember Halloween night 1997!!!!!
