Greetings! Here are some hospital ghost stories for you all.

This is a running discussion that was the hospital's E-Mail system regarding ghosts. I've edited out the last names of the people involved, as well as some "chit-chat" replies. Also, while I can't say what hospital this is, with a little net.research, it should be easy to find out. (not to mention there are plenty of clues in the discussion..)

Actually, I'm enbarrassed to say that I have since cleaned house, and all of the stuff we'd previously discussed is gone. I can tell you all that it mostly had to do with Ouija boards, and the supposed haunting of the 11th floor and the C wing elevators, with some hair-raising stories contributed by some of the night shift gang. Basically, anything strange and unusual is fair game for discussion/debate, but I do ask that anyone with any fanatical religious/non-religious views please try to be gentle. Other than that, there are no rules.

As my husbands surrogate, I can say that I do believe that he started the rumor or furor as the case may be about the elevators. He told me about them when I first got here and we used them alot. He apparently heard about them from some of the night shift people in Radiology. I do believe in ghosts since we(my family)have one in or cabin in the Colorado woods. He's friendly though. (Just protecting his ancestral burial ground.)

I'm interested in the classes- please tell me more. As for being touched, I have had two experiences in which I was physically touched by something, I have no idea what. In one instance, I was lying in bed at my Grandmother's house, and I felt the mattress of the bed rise up all around me, as if something were sitting on top of me, but felt no pressure- only the sensation of increased pressure around me. I remember feeling paralyzed- no sound, no movement, no matter how hard I tried. Very terrifying. Another time, I had a dream (I think it was, but still I'm not sure if it happened or not) that I had come in late from something, being out at a party, not sure- and flipping every light switch in the house, and nothing would come on, but the digital clocks were all on, so I figured the power was okay. It then dawned on me that there must be some other reason no lights would come on, and as I was thinking this, I had the sensation that I was about to be touched from behind, and I was sort of watching myself from behind, and had that "zoom-in" sensation, like in a creepy movie when the monster sneaks up on the victim. Then, I felt as though I was grabbed by my upper arms, and I saw the room turn around, and felt myself bouncing off the ceiling and door frame, as if I had been literally thrown about the room. How's that for weird?

My mother has had two "Out-of-Body" experiences where she has found herself ascended up off her bed approximately 3 feet up in the air, not knowing what or who is drawing her up. Her length of time in the air is unknown.

I am sure my family is "blessed" as we all seem to have special abilities. My mother has a friend in England who does Saonces (sp?), and he communica tes with my mothers mother. This "Master" as I call him, then writes my mother, to tell her what her mother has said or wants to pass on.

I myself, and my son, have "audial"(?) dreams, where we don't hear voices or receive dates or names, but in our dreams, we see people and places, giving no inclination to the fact that we will ever see these individuals or places. But, at some point in time, we "re-live" these experiences later on down the road in time.

My son experiences them within weeks and months time, but I myself started to have these dreams when I was in about fifth grade. I would see people's sillohuetts, but not see their faces or voices, and I would see places, and portions of events that would be happening to me.

The strange thing is, I didn't start to experience these events until some 13 years later. All my dreams have been re-lived since I came to Hawaii in 1980. I have had somewhere around a good 8 to 10 (approximate) dreams come to live where I remember "being there before".

For me now, when this happens, it still feels strange, but from spiritual counselors telling me, it means that where one is in life, is where she is supposed to be, and that you are experiencing what you are supposed to be experiencing.... that you are on track.

Everything we experience, happens for a reason, in the way of personal growth.

Unfortunately, since my life has changes over the past couple years, I have been living with a person who was at one point in time, agnostic or atheist, but is now more in touch with the spiritual side of life, but at the same time, this has only happened due to the fact that he has been involved with me.

What I am trying to say, is that I have beeen his teacher. Teaching some- one who is dealing with alot of anger, whom has come from alot of neglect and abuse growing up, takes alot of energy out of the other person, but it also mirrrors us, in showing ourselves what we have already learned in life and what we need to see, in a "reality-check" within ourselves.

For me, the progression has been difficult, but challenging. Where I will go from here, I do not know.

I miss persuing the spiritual side of the paranormal, but yet I am learning patience and tolerance, and I am learning something about self-development. I truly beleive that self development comes through different avenues of the spiritual side of life and the universe that one does not know, see, or feel. One is presented with the "Big Screen" of philosophical quizes through people, places and things. Not to mention pain. (The Road less Traveled by Scott Peck). Hey, Michelle. I'm interested in hearing your stories.

About a month ago at approx 0315, I heard a blood-curdling scream in my ward. After checking all the patients and finding everybody fine, we blew it off. Then, a half hour later after I made a run down to the Dungeon and Stat Lab, I was waiting for the main elevators on second floor, not looking at anything in particular, and staring in the general direction of the plate glass windows leading into General Medicine, when I could have sworn I saw somebody (big guy!) looming over me. I jumped around...and there was nobody there. I have since had no wierd experiences.

Heck, I would like to keep a dream-log, but I can't remember anything when I wake up (grin)

WELL LET'S SEE WHERE TO BEGIN...... THERE ARE A FEW STORIES THAT I CAN TELL YOU, AND I KNOW THAT MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE GROUP HAVE ALREADY HEARD THEM, THESE THINGS (MOST OF THEM) HAPPENED BEFORE THE GROUP WAS STARTED. THE MOST RECENT WAS ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, I WAS IN THE ELEVATORS IN C-WING, AND I WAS ON MY WAY BACK FROM THE SNACK BAR AND THE ELEVATOR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING VERY SLOW AND THEN IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE WAS STANDING BEHIND ME JINGLING CHANGE IN THEIR POCKET, BUT I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE ELEVATOR. AND I HAD PUSH '3' AND IT BY-PASSED THE 3RD FL. AND TOOK ME UP TO THE 6TH. THIS WAS AT ABOUT 2330. AND SEVERAL TIMES IN THAT ELEVATOR I'LL HAVE GOTTEN IN TO GO TO THE 1ST FLOOR AND IT WOULD TAKE ME DOWN TO THE 2CD FLOOR AND THEN UP TO THE 6TH. ONE NIGHT IN THE SAME ELEVATOR, IT STARTED TO SHAKE REALLY HARD AND IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE WAS JUMPING ON THE ROOF, THEN THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND I TRIED THE BUTTONS AND THE PHONE BUT NOTHING WORKED. I FINALLY GOT OUT, IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD 5 MIN. BUT I'M SURE IT WASN'T THAT LONG, IT JUST SEEMED LIKE IT. I'VE SEEN OR THOUGHT THAT I'VE SEEN GHOST ON THE SECOND FLOOR, SEVERAL TIMES. IT APPEARS TO BE A FEMALE IN A WHITE GOWN. (LIKE A HOSPITAL GOWN) AND SHE'LL BE BY THE ELEVATORS JUST STANDING THERE AND STARING OUT THE WINDOWS. (BY THE STAFF ELEVATORS) BE BACK IN A MINUTE, I'M NOT DONE YET.....

NOW ABOUT THE 11TH FLOOR....... WHEN I FIRST STARTED WORKING NIGHTS ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I WAS MAKING MY COPIES ON THE 11TH FLOOR. FOR SOME REASON WHEN EVER I WOULD GO IN THERE I WOULD ALWAYS LOOK TO MY LEFT, SOMETHING ABOUT THAT SIDE BOTHERED ME. WELL ONE NIGHT I WAS UP THERE ABOUT 0200-0300 AND I HEARD SOMETHING AND WHEN I TURNED AROUND THREE OF THE MEDICAL BOOKS FROM THE SECOND ROW BACK FELL OFF THE SHELF, ONE AFTER THE OTHER, I WATCHED THEM FALL AND NO ONE WAS THERE TO HELP THEM. THEN A WEEK OR SO LATER I WAS UP THERE WITH KIMBERLY, (ABOUT THE SAME TIME) AND WHEN WE FIRST GOT UP THERE AND OPENED THE DOOR THE PHONES WERE GOING CRAZY, THE CONF-SPKR WERE ON AND THERE WAS NOTHING BUT REALLY LOUD STATIC COMING FROM THEM. THAT STOPPED AFTER A MINUTE OR SO. THEN IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE HALL WAY, WHEN I LOOKED THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. A FEW MINUTES LATER WE HEARD SEVERAL LOUD STOMPING SOUNDS, THEN SILENCE, THE A FEW MORE STOMPS. ONCE AGAIN WE DID NOT SEE ANYONE. WE GOT READY TO GO AND WHEN WE LEFT THE LIBRARY WE CHECK THE DOORS UP THERE TO THE BATHROOMS AND PM DOOR, THEY WERE ALL LOCKED. WE WAITED FOR THE ELEVATOR AND WHEN IT FINALLY CAME WE GOT IN AND AS THE DOOR WAS CLOSING WE HEARD A FEMALE'S VOICE SAY "HELP ME".....SECURITY WENT AND CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND NOTHING. (WITH THE BOOKS, THEY WERE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE LIBRARY, THE ONE THAT I ALWAYS CHECKED.)

=Very= wierd. Wow, I guess that explains the "heavy" feeling I'll sometimes notice when I go to 10th floor to look out the windows. It's almost a feeling that someone is staring down at you. I always thought it was the copious amounts of coffee I consumed...

While I hardly notice the B wing elevators ever being on "G1" (me being on 5), I do notice that sometimes at night when I'm waiting for a downbound elevator to second or first floors from fifth, the bell will go "ding" and an elevator will open on fifth going UP. I always thought it was strange that it was going up with nobody in it (but not THAT strange, as there are four other patient wards on sixth through ninth floors), but I never bothered to go into the car and see what floor it was set too. I guess I wasn't really that interested.

Any other Ghost Stories?

(A RN Friend of mine..who shall remain nameless, was working on a Med-Surj ward at another hospital during night shift when she got sleepy, so she took a nap in one of the empty patient rooms. She was telling me that she felt herself having chest pains and she saw herself "floating" out of her body, when she heard a "presence" snap at her "You're not suppose to sleep in here!" and then she woke up. She told her fellow nurse on duty who remarked that the TV in that room had a habit of going on by itself. This is the story she told me...)

I FORGOT TO ADD, LAST MONDAY MORNING AT ABOUT 0330 I WAS WALKING OFF MY WARD AND I ALWAYS LOOK IN THE ROOMS AS I WALK BY, HABIT. AND I SAW SOMEONE SITTING IN THE DESK CHAIR IN ROOM 1. WELL I DID NOT THINK ANY THING OF IT UNTIL I GOT BACK AND DID HEADCOUNT. ALL PATIENTS WERE ACCOUNTED FOR AND SLEEPING, BUT WE DID NOT HAVE ANY PATIENTS IN ROOM 1. AND EVERY NIGHT WE HEAR A SOUND LIKE A CHAIR MOVING ACROSS THE FLOOR AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT A TOILET FLUSHES.(AND IT ALWAYS COMES FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE NURSES STATION, BY ROOM 1.) BUT WHEN WE GO TO SEE WHO IS AWAKE, THEY ARE ALL SLEEPING.....AND WE'VE SEEN THINGS ON OUR TV MONITORS AS WELL, BUT WE JUST THOUGHT IT WAS TECHNICAL.

What sort of things? (Gee, I guess life up here in 5B2 is boring after all. =We= have to consume megatons of caffeine to stay awake.) I mean, hey, if you got videotape of a "supernatural event", that would be pretty heavy stuff. Oh, sure, we hear furniture moving around here too, but we assume that they're just really bored up in 6B2 and that they're redecorating the chart room.

Somebody said that some person died in one of the lift shafts about a year ago. What's the scoop on that?

You mentioned that some kind of wierd things have been captured on the TV monitors you all have mounted on that floor. Why kind of weird things?

No, I wasn't aware that 3rd Floor used to be the ER.

I've never had any "encounters" at the Wing C Lifts. Actually, that Mystery Scream, the Reflection, and the occasional forboding sence I get on tenth floor are about it. Nothing else. Pretty dull, at least for me.

I guess haunts have more exciting places to hang out then a OB-GYN ward.

Gee, I guess I'm a woos... even though I believe in all this spiritual stuff.

Whenever I used to work on 7c on evening shift, I would have someone go with me up to library, since it gave me the creeps... for some reason, ever since my husband, both the first time around and second time around, have been into horror flicks and "Tales From The Crypt", I have been easily disturbed by the dark, despite my own sense of "Grounding".

I've worked at several hospitals, I think that they are a favorite hang-out spot for the physically departed. Camp Smith also had a hospital a long time ago, as well as Pearl Harbor. I worked in both buildings on shift work, and there were always unexplained noises, cold spots, misplaced items, etc...
