story SAN FRANCISCO - Last Sunday, September 13th, I was visiting some old friends, a couple, here in the city. They live in a typical San Francisco-style apartment (i.e. an old Victorian building carved up into 2 or 3 individual apartments or flats.) It was the middle of the afternoon and we had just rented a couple of movies. About a third of the way through the 2nd movie ("Face Off"), I got up to use the restroom. While in the bathroom, I heard two knocks at the door and said "Yeah?" aloud. As soon as I said it, I had a very strange feeling that something wasn't "natural" and a sort of eerie heaviness came over me. There was no response to my "yeah", no "oops, sorry" or "just checking" like one would expect.

I went back to the living room, and asked if either had knocked on the bathroom door. Neither had moved from their original spots or even shifted position and they said no. "Patty" suggested that maybe one of their roommates had come home, but I said "I don't think so." She was somewhat taken aback, but then suggested (sincerely, and almost shyly) that perhaps I had encountered one of their ghosts. Apparently 2 people have died (different times, unrelated people) in their apartment - more specifically, in their bedroom. One was a female who had overdosed on heroin. The other was a man in his thirties, who was found sitting up in bed with his arms around his knees - stone dead. He supposedly died of "heart failure." "Patty" had seen the sitting man one night in their room. "Joe" was waking up with choking sensations around this time. They told their roommate, who talked to the room with another old friend of the sitting man. "Joe" and "Patty" had no more real sightings af! ! ter that - just weird things going on with household electronics from time to time. My incident was the first one in awhile in their place, but other guest have reported strange happenings there.

Since then, I've become fascinated by ghosts. Discussions with friends have made me aware that ALOT of people have had these sort of experiences - some of them far more vivid and scary than mine, others more gentle and almost nice. I think San Francisco is crawling with ghosts! This is far and away the best site I've found thus far on the topic. Please keep up the good work!
