story In 1973, I was visiting a small coastal island called Freeport, Nova Scotia and my parents and I were visiting some good friends of ours. We were told by these friends that a seacaptain had died down the street and had many antiques in his house that we could take home with us. My parents went down and saw several things they like, but one stood out to them, a ceramic kerosene lamp. There is a picture of it on our homepage: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/ghost.htm

After returning home after our trip, things began happening. We heard soft footsteps upstairs one night and found there was noone there. A few minutes later, we heard them again. The lamp was placed in the hall of the house on the third floor of the house. A week later my mother was going upstairs to the bedroom and had the light off. In the hallway ahead of her, she said there was something there in front of her. It felt cold and dank like being underwater and she couldn't walk any further down the hallway. She knew and still believes there was someone there in that hallway.

My personal experience happened one night at about 3-4 AM. I was in my parents room sleeping one night and woke up strangely, I was looking around the room and saw something moving into view at the doorway to their bedroom. There in my sight came a whitish figure. He had eyes, a face, nose, full figure, and what looked like a cap or hat. He stopped in the hall and looked at me and I just looked back. I didn't feel feel scared, but I also knew I was seeing someone I didn't recognize. I pinched myself to prove I wasn't dreaming this and I still saw him and I was fully awake.

Slowly he began "floating" down towards the end of the hallway and out of my view. I tried to wake up my parents but they wouldn't get up. I never forgot that experience to this day. In July 1998 I was visiting the area and stopped to look at the old house. I took a photograph of the upstairs bathroom and bedroom, when the photographs were developed I saw something in one of the windows. I know it was the sea captain then and I know he still in the house today. His name is Carmen (from what our friends said) and I am still researching who he was and what happened to him.

Thanks for letting me write my story.
