My husband and I own a home in Somerset, MA. The house was built in 1961. Its previous owner was a man who married 4 times. The first 3 wives died while he was married to them, then he died while married to the 4th wife. His children put the house up for sale and basically kicked the 4th wife out. We bought the house in an estate sale. Not that it's an estate, it's a 4 bedroom ranch. My husband and I occupied the bedroom at the end of the hall and the girls had 1 room and my son had the other. The large bedroom was used as a playroom. My husband snored and often slept on the couch. I would constantly have very horrible nightmares and go out and sleep next to him on the couch. It was always the same nightmare. I felt as though I could not wake up. My eyes would not open, it was very dark and I was terrifed of something. When I could finally drag my self out of the bed, I would run to the livingroom.
As the girl got a little older, they wanted their own rooms, so we made the playroom back into a master bedroom and gave each child their own room. My son being the oldest took our room which was the biggest. Soon after, he began complaining of things moving in the middle of the night and also hearing someone call him in the night. Most of the family shrugged it off or made a joke of it. I have alsways believed in ghosts and I took him seriously. Afterall since I moved from that roomm, I had not had a single nightmare. Him and I talked about it. He feels as though who ever aor whatever it was, did not want to hurt him.
As the years went on, his TV would shut off and go back on by itself. His dog would not sleep in the room anymore. One night we went out and by mistake shut his door, not knowing that the dog was asleep on his bed. When we came home, the dog had clawed the back of his door , and actually torn the framework off from the inside. My son finally got very upset one night after an incident. He has a large heavy waterbed. In the middle of the night, the back of the bed started shaking and his shade started moving back and forth. All the windows were closed. He felt as though someone was there. He again brought it up in front of the family, they laughed. Except one aunt who is very religious. She brought holy water and sprinkled it all around the window and all around the back of the bed. That night, everything was quiet. A few nights later, the shaking started again. My son got up and took a picture of his room. When the picture was developed, there were white marks that looked like light all around the window and back of the bed where his aunt had sprinkled the holy water. This picture was taken in the middle of the night, with his bedroom light on. Once we showed this picture to family, they couldn't believe it and finally believed my son.
That was 2 years ago, things have settled down with only occasional disturbances. He's away at college. We've moved his TV into our room, it never turns on/off anymore by itself. The dogs sometimes lay in front of his door and growl for no apparent reason. It seems that since he left, everything is quieter. My daughter have actually slept in the room with no events. My son is a very open, genuine person, I feel as though whoever or whatever this is somehow connected with him. Some people do not believe this story, but I believe everything my son told me. I 'll never forget what it felt like when I slept in the room and those awful nightmares.
