Years ago, my friend and I were travelling home when the following incident happened. To this day we have no explanation. We were driving through a rain forest on a winding road at night . It was raining hard and water was getting into the distributor making the engine misfire. We pulled off the road into a small clearing in the rain forest and lifted the car bonnet intending to wipe out the inside of the distributor cap with a rag. With the engine turned off and it being pitch black and miles from any habitation , it made for a very eerie and lonely place. We lifted the bonnet and my friend held the torch and the bonnet up as it was faulty. I undid the cap and wiped the inside to dry it out ,then placing the rag on the mudguard, I began to replace the cap. Just then I was hit hard in the face with the rag which was now sopping wet. I jumped back and asked my friend what the hell did you do that for. He denied it and appeared just as surprised as I. I realised that it could not be him as one hand was holding up the faulty bonnet and the other the torch and it wasn't in his nature to do something stupid like that. We spun the torch around but could see nothing unusual. By now we were spooked and decided to bolt . The rag which I placed on the guard after hitting me had disappeared, but while driving back onto the road from the clearing , the rag hit the front windscreen and there it stayed until we were miles away. We have no explanation but are certain that no human was involved , as they couldn't have hidden before we spun the torch around or recovered the rag and raced 100 yards to throw it again at the windscreen.
