I just have a couple of small experiences to tell, and I'm not even sure they merit being on your page after reading some of the others' experiences :o)
Okay, the first one happened when I was about 12 or 13. I used to share a room with my younger brother (small house; a lot of kids) and he and I had each gotten a waterbed. These beds weren't fancy or anything -- they just had plain brown sides holding in the mattress and weren't up off of the floor. At the time, we had a small toy fox terrier named Cricket who resembled a very tiny Greyhound. He loved sleeping with either my brother or myself at night as the beds were warm. I don't mean to go on and on, but these small details are important to the story. Well, one night while I was trying to sleep, I felt the bed ripple like it usually does when Cricket would jump up to come and sleep with me. When I reached to pull him under the blankets, there wasn't anything there. I was a little spooked, but being the way I am, I just shrugged it off. I got up and turned on the light to try and either catch my brother snickering that he had scared me or to maybe see where the dog had gone to. Well, my brother had been asleep and was pretty upset with me for turning on the light. Of course, wouldn't you know it, Cricket had been curled up next to him sleeping too and was looking at me rather sleepily. Overactive imagination? Poltergeist activity? I really don't know, but I do know that I was very, very spooked. This wasn't just a little ripple on the bed, but kind of like someone had taken their hand and pushed the waterbed mattress down forcefully to make it wave.
Okay, the other one was when I was in my middle teens. A friend of mine's mother was dating the manager of a hotel. A group of us would go into the bar of the hotel after it closed and clean up for money. It usually was a group of about 4 or 5, but after a little hard work, there would only be three of us left -- my friend, her older sister, and myself. To make it go faster, the three of us would split up the work. One particular night, I had the pleasant job of cleaning the women's bathroom. Now when you walked into the bathroom, the first part of it was like a sitting room. There were sinks that lined up under a single big mirror. The sinks had the kind of faucet handles that you twisted for water. Well, there I was vacuuming the carpet in the sitting room like crazy when out of no where, the water turned on. Now it wasn't just a little dribble or anything. No, this was full blast. It scared the pants off of me and I can't really remember walking over and turning it off, nor can I imagine doing so. As much as I love a good ghost story, I am basically not very brave when it comes to paranormal. Anyway, after getting up the nerve to tell my friend about it some time later, she told me that her older sister had had several experiences like that as well, with the addition of flushing toilets. Her sister refused to go into the bathrooms and clean for that reason, which explains why I got the job. Believe me, if I had been enlightened sooner, they'd had to have someone else do it -- not me!
Well, sorry this is so long winded, but it was really great to talk about it. If anyone has any comments and/or has experienced something similar, I would just love to hear about it or talk about it.
