Misc Verhoeven Photos

These pictures are captured from various Verhoeven DVDs. You can thank Anchor Bay and Tri-Star, as long as you don't give them my name.

Wee baby Paul. What could be better!

Is this cute or what? I know that look... it's the same one my daughter gets when she's about to do something terribly naughty but highly amusing. I call it "the Showgirls face."

Paul's dad often took him to see War of the Worlds. I guess that movie played for like 15 years in the Netherlands, because they saw it many many times. My theory is that Paul started making films just so the Dutch theaters would have something to play besides WOTW.

Paul's graduation from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Fancy duds! If only I were born 30 years earlier and in Holland, I might have had a chance to know him as a youth.

After school, Paul joined the Dutch navy and made documentaries. Hey, it beats cramming numbers all day.

This was taken during the filming of Het Korps Mariners, a famous Netherlandian [I just made that up] military documentary. Here we can see that he's already adopted his maniacal take-no-prisoners style of filmmaking. Go Paul!

Oh my. In 1985 I guess this looked really cool. It's just... those boots, and the floppy hair, and the unbuttoned Don Johnson togs... ack. Can you imagine Paul faxing (or whatever they did in the 80s) this picture around to all the studios? Oh man. Take me back to the 21st century, please.
